According to a recent report by Ondia, NexChip and Samsung Foundry have emerged as leaders in the driver IC (DDIC) market for the third quarter of 2024. NexChip has successfully secured the largest market share in both the large-area display and LCD driver IC segments, demonstrating its strong position in these critical sectors.
Meanwhile, Samsung Foundry has taken the lead in the AMOLED DDIC market, showcasing its advanced technology and capabilities. In Q2, Chinese foundries collectively held a substantial 55% market share in the large-area DDIC sector, although this figure decreased to 49% in Q3. Despite this drop, they remain significant players in the industry.
NexChip captured 42% of the large-area DDIC market in Q3, reflecting its growing influence and competitive edge. Additionally, Taiwanese foundries, including UMC, Vanguard, and PSMC, secured a combined market share of 38%, further highlighting the competitive landscape in this segment.
This data underscores the shifting dynamics within the driver IC market as NexChip and Samsung Foundry solidify their positions, while Chinese and Taiwanese foundries continue to play pivotal roles in shaping industry trends.
